I don't know about you, but I ALWAYS have a hard time figuring out what to get Mark for vday...or any holiday for that matter. This year we decided that we weren't really going to make a big deal out of vday, and we probably don't ever again. We don't have the money, and I don't really understand the reason behind the holiday...we can show each other we love the other any day of the week. I want to celebrate the holiday with our kids and make a little party out of it, but for now...we are broke and just make do with what we can. :) Since I have a hard time figuring out what to get him, I decided to take an idea from Pinterest (what did we do without that...and how did I plan my wedding without it???). I chose to do the 14 days of valentines day. Each morning before I left for work, I would sneak a little something into his backpack so he would have something to snack on while he studied in the library. On actual Valentines Day, Mark surprised me with flowers at school during our party! So sweet! Then we used gift cards that we got for Christmas and went to Olive Garden and saw a movie...it was a free date for Valentine's Day! It was wonderful! We got to OG at 5 pm, hoping to beat the rush...we were wrong. We waited 45 mins, but by the time we left it was almost a 2 hour wait. Thank goodness we got there when we did! We made it to the movie theater around 7 for our movie at 7:40. We were the first ones in the theater (that was a full house by the time it started) so we got to choose anywhere we wanted to sit...it was WONDERFUL. We went to see "Safe Haven". We both LOVED it!
Here are the treats and sayings that I gave to Mark:
