When we decided to go to California a few months ago, we also decided to ride a 25-50 mile bike ride. In order to do that, we needed to get into shape. In order for me to get into shape, I needed some motivation. That motivation for me, was to run a race with my sister. Having someone to run the race with made it harder for me to back out, so once we both paid for it, I pretty much couldn't back out. I have NEVER been a runner...ever. In high school I could barely run around our block...which is only 1 mile. I always hated running the timed mile for volleyball and was always one of the last people to finish. I still might be one of the last people to finish, but at least I can run farther now! On the 4th of July, my sister and I ran in the Freedom Run 10K...which ended up being 6.5 miles. WHEW! That's the farthest I have EVER run!!! My goal was basically just to finish. I would have liked to have finished it in less than an hour...but I guess I'll have to be okay with 1 hour and 15 minutes for now. Over 2,000 people were running in the 10K part of the race, and we finished pretty much right in the middle. I just really didn't want to be last...and we weren't! It was nice to have Jana there with me encouraging me to keep going. We finished it, and it was a blast. That is all that really matters. And we got an awesome medal at the end of it!!! Thanks mom, dad, and Mark for taking pictures of us! And THANK YOU Jana, for being willing to run the race with me, and staying by me even though I am a lot slower than you. :)
Maybe one day, I'll get to run in the Disney Princess Half Marathon at Disney World, or the Tinkerbell Half Marathon at Disneyland. One day. :)
