California Roadtrip - Day 8

July 28, 2012
No bugs this morning!  Thank goodness…they didn’t get in our tent and they were nowhere to be found this morning.  I guess they don’t like the day time much…which makes them even more disgusting.  We got up this morning and guess what we had for breakfast?!  Smores!!!  That’s the kind of breakfast I’m talking about.  Mark also cooked toast for himself, but I didn’t have any.  I was just fine eating Smores for breakfast.

Mark also made up the invention of putting a starburst in a marshmallow then roasting it.  It was surprisingly very delicious.  Just the right amount of flavor, not extremely chewy.  It was yummy.  Mark always comes up with the most random recipes.  I love it…most of the time.

After breakfast, showers, and getting ready, we went to the San Diego temple.  It is just as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside.  I am so glad that we were able to go through a session while we are here in San Diego.  I have always dreamed of going in that temple, and finally got to.  Beautiful.  I wanted to take a picture of us while we were still in our nice clothes, but there were 50 million weddings going on and it was impossible to take a picture from where we wanted to, so we went to the other side, which has the exact same view of the temple without the flowers and grass, and took a picture there.

After the temple, we went to Chili’s to eat some lunch.  I know we are boring because we haven’t eaten at many California only places, but they are just so expensive!  Plus, I like to eat at places that I am familiar with.  But I would have tried other places, we just didn’t.  After Chili’s, we headed to La Jolla cove/beach.  It was beautiful there and we were planning on staying there and spending the rest of the time at the beach, but it was so crowded and we couldn’t find a spot to park anywhere, so we decided to just go back to Coronado Beach and spend the rest of the day there.  La Jolla is beautiful and if we were to live in San Diego, that is probably the area that I would want to live in until we can afford Coronado (if ever).  It was colder today at Coronado than it was yesterday, but it was still beautiful and fun.  It was a lot more crowded too, but it’s Saturday so I guess that makes sense.  We got in the ocean this time about waist deep…it was SO cold!  I don’t like swimming in that water, but it was still fun.  Mark had a blast digging a hole.  When it comes to rocks or holes, Mark is like a little kid in a candy store.  He LOVES it!  We didn’t have a shovel, so he used our windshield scrapper…haha.  It worked and he found a real shovel about 2 feet deep in the sand!

I was walking around taking pictures of random things and then guess what I saw in the ocean?!  I saw a dolphin!  I started to shout at Mark so he would see it, and he did so I knew it wasn’t just my eyes playing tricks on me.  It was a real dolphin!!!  I saw a dolphin in the ocean…how cool is that?!  It was about 100 yards away from the beach, maybe closer than that, I’m not very good at measuring distances.  It was so neat to see that!  Unfortunately, I wasn’t fast enough to get a picture of it, but I promise you it was there.

Around 7:00 we were ready to leave because it was getting pretty chilly, and we decided to head to Sunset Cliffs to watch the sunset.  We got there right in time!  If we had waiting 5 more minutes, we would have missed the sunset.  We were able to get some good pictures and enjoy the sunset there.  It was beautiful.

Before heading back to the camp site, we decided that we wanted to see the temple one more time at night, and I am so glad that we did.  It is even more spectacular at night.  I wanted to get another picture of us, so I tried to do it with flash and it didn’t turn out that great and I didn’t want to mess with the camera because I couldn’t see very well, so I didn’t and this will have to do.  It is a spectacular place and I can’t wait to go back there again sometime.

We then headed back to our campsite for some more smore’s.  It was a fun filled day and quite a relaxing day.  It was nice not to do much.  I’m glad that we were able to spend a few days here in San Diego.  It sure is beautiful here.  Tomorrow we leave California and head to Arizona.  I’m sad we are leaving California, but we will come back and visit again I’m sure.  We are going to visit Mark’s brother, Kyle, and his family in Arizona for a few days and we are excited to see them and see what Arizona is all about!  We had a blast in California together and I am so glad that I am able to spend this trip with my amazing husband
