The Lone Star State

This is LONG over due...but hey at least it is here! In April/beginning of May, we were able to go to Austin, Texas for a whole week! (Thanks to Mrs.Emily Kjar). It was warm and wonderful, and my parents came up from Plano to spend the weekend with us, and I am so glad that they did! It was a blast :) We also got to stay with some very wonderful family friends of ours, the Stilovich's! They have been my parents good friends since before I was born I think...anyway, it was wonderful to see them and stay with them! Thank you Rick & Sue!
We got to go through some caverns for a day, and it was SO cool! We were 200 ft. underground I think. It was a pretty neat experience and I loved it! It was a colder day there, and we went shopping at the outlet mall...bad idea. I felt like I was back in Idaho! It was freezing! So being underground was nice and warm...but a little moist, so it was kind of gross. But still, very cool!
While my parents were visiting, we got to go on a tour around Austin on SEGWAYS!!!! They are the COOLEST thing ever! It's one of those things that once you ride one you want one...then you see how much they cost, and you still want one. Haha. I found a Segway that holds a golf bag...thought of my dad. Wish I was rich and could get it for him for fathers day! Sorry dad :) But seriously this was our favorite part of the trip! We went all around Austin, and got to learn about the history of it and everything! I've lived in Texas my whole life...but I learned so much! I love it there! Thanks Dad for taking us on this futuristic adventure!
We also gt to go to the Oasis restaurant right off of the lake at sunset...and let me tell you what. It was BEAUTIFUL! This picture doesn't really capture the sunset...at all. But you get the point. It was a great night and I was with wonderful family!
This is what I was most excited about...SAN ANTONIO! I would love to live there some day! We got to go on the river walk boat tour. I always love going on that tour.
And of course, the good ol' Alamo! It's smaller than you think, but still very interesting! I'm really glad that I got a chance to take Mark. I've been a bazillion times, but it is always pretty cool! I think especially now that I am older, I am more interested in it.
The BIGGEST reason why we went to Texas...was because of our great friends wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Emily and Alex Kjar...long awaited...got married in April! :) Isn't she gorgeous?! We love them! She used my dress, and I was a bridesmaid, so she flew us down for the wedding. THANK YOU EMILY! It was such a wonderful experience and we are SO glad that we were able to be there for the special day! Thanks for being our only friends :)
