Eastern Idaho State Fair

Because I am student teaching in Blackfoot, all I hear about is the Eastern Idaho State Fair...so I figured I HAD to go so I could talk about it too! I got really sick on Friday, so I was nervous that we wouldn't be able to make it. But thank goodness for strong meds and an amazing husband, we made it to the state fair on Saturday! And boy was it a fun date with my amazing husband! It was a beautiful day too! It's been cold and rainy all week, so I was nervous that Saturday was going to be another crazy cold day. But it wasn't! It was PERFECT!
This ride made me laugh...seriously? They HAVE to mention that it's a ride from Neverland Ranch? That is a little weird if I do say so myself. It was funny though!
So the coolest part of the day was the free shows! We didn't want to pay money to go to the demolition derby, so we just went to all of the free shows and it was SO cool! First we went to get a tigers ear (a GIANT scone) and went to the races! It was junior racing with little itty bitty jockeys, and it was fun to watch those kids go so fast! Then after them, it was the Indian Relay Racing. This is where it got interesting...this was intense let me tell you what! These guys were awesome. They would go around on a horse, jump off of the horse they were on and jump on another and go again...bare back. It was crazy! The worst part was we were right in front of one of the groups of horses where they would switch...and a guy from that team was jumping onto his second horse from the back, slipped and fell and knocked his head pretty hard on the horse. Mark said he saw blood, but I couldn't see anything. Everyone was gathered around him. So I don't know exactly how he hurt himself, I just saw him slip off the back and hit his head on something that threw his head back...probably the foot of the horse...OUCH! Anyway, kids were crying, an ambulance came and took him away strapped down to a board. It was intense...but I was very impressed by those Indian Racers. It was pretty cool! But I sure do hope that one guy is going to be okay...
The best food we got at the fair - chocolate covered kabobs!!!!! OH MY GOSH DELICIOUS! There isn't anything like it...seriously. It was totally worth the money. I got Strawberries and Bananas - white and dark chocolate...mmmmmmmmmm. And Mark got a chocolate covered cheesecake. YUM! We switched half way through and I can just honestly say that they were both to die for! It was the best dessert I've had in a loong time! YUM! We felt like a walking advertisement. Everyone was staring at us while we were eating these delicious things and we would hear people say..."Oh my gosh...I want one of THOSE!" Haha, it was awesome.
Then the rides!!! We didn't want to spend a ton of money on the rides...although they all looked fun, we just chose one ride to ride and got tickets for that ride....
That ride that we chose was the faris wheel! How can you go to a fair and not ride the faris wheel? Plus, I can't remember the last time I went on one of these things...have I ever even been on one? I don't know...but it was definitely fun to be there with my hubby!
This place was PACKED! It was the last day of the fair, a Saturday, and definitely a BEAUTIFUL day! I expected it to be worse than it was...
But the day was fun and we loved the fair! Can't wait until next year! :)
